No Award for LYNCEAN ACADEMY...but very stiff!

Officially 5th beaten a bit over a length LYNCEAN ACADEMY covered himself in glory despite finishing out of the placings in the 1600m GROUP 2 Villiers Sat at Randwick. Forced to weave a passage through a bunched field when denied a split on the turn, the 6yo GALILEO gelding stormed home from second last on the turn. Granted the winner, Palacio De Crystal came from behind our bloke, but she had an unimpeded run for the length of the straight.

Chris Munce felt LYNCEAN was most unlucky, suggesting he'll be very competitive in the LISTED Tatts Cup on New Years Day. Doubtless the 2000m holds no fears for the horse, indeed Guy thinks he's looking for it now. Today was the one that got away but realistically that is the nature of GROUP racing. Unless your horse has grades on the opposition, luck in running and tempo of the race play an integral role in determining where you finish. Look no further than the Stewards Report below:

RACE 6: Inglis Villiers Stakes 1600m:

Hairy, Our Lukas and Offenders were slow to begin. Tagus got its head up when

being restrained rounding the first turn and then overraced for some distance in the

middle stages. Passing the 200m, when Parfumier improved to the outside of the heels

of Rabbuka, Parfumier made contact with Spinney, inconveniencing that runner. At

the 100m Hairy was held up on the heels of Rockwood and Rabbuka and had to come

to the outside of the heels of Rabbuka near the 50m to obtain clear running. Lyncean

Academy raced in restricted room until inside the 50m, when it shifted out and bumped

Adnocon.
