Two STATE DOUBLE makes it 25 for the Year!
They were many kilometres apart but in less than half an hour a couple of handy 4yo’s wrapped up the year in the best possible way for PROVEN THOROUGHBREDS. DANCING DOLL at Gosford and HAWK ATTACK at Echuca both recorded their second victories and in so doing lifted the PROVEN yearly total to 25, a personal best. It was also the 14th for the season.
DANCING DOLL was given a lovely ride by Rod Quinn just off the speed and she sprinted away on straightening to win by more than 3 lengths. It’s never easy to make the graduation from maiden to the next level at the very first attempt but the Danehill Dancer mare handled it with aplomb. Winless in her first dozen starts the 4yo seems to have found her niche over 1600m.and trainer Guy Walter will look to place her to advantage in town.
HAWK ATTACK has been a model of consistency with his record now reading 2 wins and 5 placings from 9 starts. Sent south to Peter Morgan after racing erratically on the turns in Sydney he’s more than justified the move. Out of the fast Snippets mare Lorette, he clearly derives his stamina from his sire Hawk Wing and appreciated the 2100m.
The PROVEN team head to Rwick on New Year’s day with LYNCEAN ACADEMY vying for his first stakes victory in the TATTS CUP and last start winner SOUL CRUSADE in the 1800m 3yo event.
