LYNCEAN ACADEMY Flat but SOUL CRUSADE Game

The NEW YEAR started in mixed fashion for our team. LYNCEAN ACADEMY, who looked beautifully placed in the TATTS CUP, was very flat in plodding home for 7th. Not beaten far in a slowly run race, it was still way below both his best and our expectations. Guy is likely to give him a letup now.

Meantime little SOUL CRUSADE turned in another very honest run when finishing 3rd in the opening event. Trapped deep from a wide alley, he eventually got cover and then ran home resolutey to finish 3rd though outclassed by the winner. He's a real trier and has now been to  the races half a dozen times for a win and 4 placings. Having the capacity to run at least a mile as a summer 3yo suggests he has some upside as an older horse, especially being so genuine.

Our other hope on the day, old STUDIO STAR,  was home in his box because Inverell races were washed out. No doubt trainer Sue Grills will find a suitable race for him soon.
